NECA-IBEW donates $30,000 for new scoreboard at
Gresham High School

The NECA-IBEW BALMCC has donated $30,000 to Gresham High School for a new scoreboard. Representatives from the NECA-IBEW were honored at the Gresham High School homecoming game against Sam Barlow High School on October 21. The BALMCC is the labor management cooperation committee fund administered jointly by the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 48.

“We are deeply appreciative of the support we get from the community,” said Gresham High School Principal John Koch. “This new scoreboard serves as a reminder that groups in our area really care about our schools and are here to help.”

he scoreboard can be used for football, soccer, and track and field. EC Electrical donated the labor to install the scoreboard.

The gift is one of several generous donations the NECA-IBEW is making to area high schools that are a part of the ACE Academy feeder system. High schools in the Gresham-Barlow, Centennial, Parkrose, and Reynolds school districts are a part of the ACE Academy feeder system.

The donations are a way for the NECA-IBEW to express their appreciation to area high schools for their commitment to provide pre-construction career education.

ACE Academy is sponsored by the Oregon Building Congress. The school is housed in the Pacific NW Carpenters Institute and utilizes the training facilities of the NECA-IBEW Electrical Training Center, the Northwest College of Construction, and the HVAC & Metals Institute.

ACE is a shared-time program for junior and senior students. ACE instructors teach math, science and English within the disciplines of architecture, construction, and engineering. Industry partnerships are integral to students' experiences at ACE.
