The Gresham-Barlow School District has selected Ryan Blaszak to be the next principal of Springwater Trail High School. Blaszak replaces Terrence Smyth, who has been named superintendent of the Knappa School District.

Before being named principal of Springwater Trail High School, Blaszak served as the vice principal of the Multnomah Education Service District’s Helensview School for seven years. In that role he assisted in developing and aligning curriculum to the Common Core State Standards. He provided support to the English Language Development and Special Education programs at the school. Blaszak also spearheaded technology planning and implementation and developed online learning options.

“Ryan Blaszak is an exceptional educator with a strong understanding of teaching, learning, and assessment,” said Deputy Superintendent James Hiu. “He is student-centered and possesses the skills and attributes required to lead Springwater Trail High School in achieving the district’s mission of preparing every student for success.”

Prior to joining the administrative ranks, Blaszak served as an instructional consultant for Helensview School. Prior to that he taught school there for four years.

Blaszak earned his bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Lewis and Clark College. He holds a master’s degree in education from Southern Oregon University. He earned his administrative license from Portland State University.
