Announcements

  • Dear Students & Families,

Gresham Barlow School District is excited to offer Summer Meals again at no charge to participants 1-18 years of age.  We do have some important changes to share for this summer’s service:

    • Parent(s)/ Guardians will no longer be able to pick up meals on behalf of their children.
    • Students/participants must be present to receive a meal and remain on-site when consuming their meal (food items are not allowed off-site).
    • Multiple meals will not be served at one meal service.  Meals will be served daily, Monday through Friday.

While the impact of this change may affect each participant and their family differently, we remain committed to serving healthy meals in a safe and friendly environment.

    Why the Changes?

Throughout the pandemic, The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), the government agency that administers our summer meal program, waived many of the program requirements, offering flexibilities to meal service operations in an effort to serve participants safely and minimize exposure to COVID-19.  Several of the current waivers offering flexibility are set to expire before summer service starts. Due to the expiration of these waivers, participants can expect to experience some changes from last summer’s meal service.

  • Gresham-Barlow School District will return to normal meal charging practices for the 2022-23 school year. We encourage all families with students at East Orient Elementary, Deep Creek-Damascus School, West Orient Middle, Sam Barlow High, Springwater Trail High, and the Center for Advanced Learning to apply for the Free/Reduced-price meals program. Every eligible form can help provide potential new funding for your school.

Students at Clear Creek Middle, Dexter McCarty Middle, East Gresham Elementary, Gordon Russell Middle, Gresham High, Hall Elementary, Highland Elementary, Hogan Cedars Elementary, Hollydale Elementary, Kelly Creek Elementary, North Gresham Elementary, and Powell Valley Elementary may get both breakfast and lunch at no charge. These schools qualify to feed all students for free under the Community Eligibility Provision of the National School Lunch Program. No household meals applications are needed if you only have students at these CEP schools.
