Dear GBSD Families,
As you have heard, COVID-19 cases are rising in Oregon and in our community. Our District is monitoring the number of staff who request leave due to illness or to care for family members who may be sick. In addition, building principals and department supervisors are in constant communication with district administrators to determine what staffing adjustments need to be made to maintain in-person learning.
We are working diligently to continue to provide in-person learning for our students. During this time, instructional coaches, building and district administrators, and district level staff are providing support in school offices and classrooms every day.
Unfortunately, there may be a situation in which we are unable to have students learn safely at a school due to staffing shortages. In this case, we would need to temporarily transition to online learning.
Because of this, it’s important for families to have a contingency plan for their students in place if this change needs to occur. If a classroom or school transitions to online learning, the District will make every attempt to notify families the night before.
Thank you for your support and flexibility as we navigate the challenges surfacing due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
