- 1.11.21 Changes to how we share out COVID-19 exposures in schools
-
January 10, 2022
Dear GBSD Families,
The Gresham-Barlow School District values our partnership with families and we are dedicated to consistent, transparent communication. We want to alert you to a change in our communication protocols when there is a COVID-19 exposure in our schools.
Until today, each time a COVID-19 exposure has occurred in a school, we have sent out a courtesy notification to staff and families.
At this point in time, we are seeing a dramatic rise in cases due to the omicron variant of COVID-19, and exposures are occurring multiple times a day in our schools.
Because of this, beginning Tuesday, January 11, 2022, instead of emailing a courtesy notification to staff and families for each COVID-19 exposure, the district will shift to sending out a twice-weekly district-wide communication listing which schools have had COVID-19 exposures.
This change will allow staff additional time to more quickly notify students and staff who are identified as close contacts of a COVID-19 exposure while also providing our school community with general information as COVID-19 exposures are identified.
If you have any feedback about this change please visit our Let’s Talk webpage to share your thoughts or questions and you will receive a prompt response from a district administrator.
As a reminder, we post a variety of information related to COVID-19 for our families on our Health and Safety Resources Webpage.
Thank you for partnering with us during this challenging time as we work to safely keep our schools open for in-person learning.
Sincerely,
Gresham-Barlow School District
