Update: State to lift indoor mask requirement
Dear GBSD Families and Staff,
Today, Monday, February 7, 2022, the Oregon Health Authority announced it will lift indoor mask requirements no later than March 31, 2022. These changes are informed by state health officials' prediction that hospitalizations, in the next several weeks, are expected to fall below pre-Omicron levels (fewer than 400 COVID-19 hospitalizations).
The Oregon Health Authority will remove indoor mask requirements for schools on March 31, 2022. This will allow time for school districts to prepare for this change and update health and safety protocols and procedures.
The Gresham-Barlow School District will follow this guidance and work in partnership with Multnomah County Public Health and the Oregon Department of Education (Ready Schools, Safe Learners Framework) to ensure schools will continue to operate safely once the mask requirements are lifted.
We know that staff and families will have questions about this change. The Gresham-Barlow School District will put together a “Frequently Asked Questions” list that will be shared with the community.
Please watch for future updates.
