GRESHAM-BARLOW SCHOOL DISTRICT MOVING FORWARD WITH PLANS FOR A SCHOOL-BASED HEALTH CENTER

The Gresham-Barlow School District is moving forward with plans to establish a school-based health center across from Gresham High School.
At the November 16 school board work session, the school board approved hiring BLRB Architects to design the facility. State Representative Ricki Ruiz and State Senator Chris Gorsek have offered the district a grant of $1.5 million to construct the center.
GBSD recently conducted a needs assessment which identified a clear need for increased school health services within the district. The assessment revealed that a significant number of students had health needs during the past year, but didn’t access care at school or in the community.
An independent medical sponsor, Wallace Medical, will run the clinic and pay for operations.
Construction on the center is expected to be completed June 2024.
