Writing Scholarship Essays

  • A good start is to create a Google Doc and write 3-4 short essays that you can tailor to different scholarships:

    • Statement of your goals (short-term and long-term)
    • Personal statement (something not already on your resume - family educational background, disability, single parent home, etc.)
    • Obstacle(s) you have overcome (what did it take to overcome them; examples).
    • Community service (how do you make a difference; examples)
