I Love You Guys Standard Response Protocol

  • Gresham-Barlow School District has adopted the I Love You Guys Standard Response Protocol to ensure that students, teachers, staff, and administration are trained for all emergency scenarios.

The four main actions that students and staff are trained for over the course of the school year are:

    • Lockout - "Secure the Perimeter"
      • Lockout is called when there is a threat or hazard outside of the school building.
      • Students are instructed to return to the inside of the building and do business as usual.
      • Teachers recover students and staff from outside the building, increase their situational awareness, account for all students, and do business as usual.
    • Lockdown - "Locks, Lights, Out of Sight"
      • Lockdown is called when there is a threat or hazard inside of the school building.
      • Students are instructed to move away from sight and maintain silence.
      • Teachers lock the classroom door, shut off the lights, move away from sight, and maintain silence. They account for all students and wait for First Responders to open the door.
    • Evacuate - "To the Announced Location"
      • Evacuate is called to move students and staff from one location to another.
      • Students are instructed to bring their phones, leave their stuff behind, form a single file line, and show their hands.
      • Teachers account for all students and lead them to Evacuation Location.
    • Shelter - "For a Hazard Using a Safety Strategy"
      • Shelter is called for a variety of hazards that requires protection. Examples include Earthquakes, Chemical spills, Windstorms, etc.
      • Students are instructed to follow appropriate safety strategies depending on the hazard.
      • Teachers appropriate hazards and safety strategies and account for all students.
