Planning to retire this year?
A 60-day notice is required of all potential retirees. The HR department needs ample time to process your retirement paperwork. All pre-retirement PERS-subject salary must be paid to the member in the month prior to the retirement date or PERS will not consider the member eligible that month. With only one payroll period per month, this gives the district no flexibility to handle a request for retirement that comes in late.
Also, notice in advance of 60-days greatly helps district planning for next school year. We will begin our licensed staff recruitment activities in March. Therefore, if you are planning to retire, your cooperation in notifying HR is appreciated and will allow us to search early for the best possible replacement. The District will not be offering any early retirement incentives.
