Emergency Protocol

  • It is a priority of the Gresham-Barlow School District to create a safe school climate. A critical component in creating a safer school environment is classroom response to an incident at school. These include weather events, fire, accidents, intruders, suspicious packages, and other threats to student and staff safety. These are scenarios that are trained for by students, teachers, staff, and administrators in partnership with our first responders.

    Standard Response Protocol (SRP)

The SRP is based upon five actions (shown below): Hold, Secure, Lockdown, Evacuate, and Shelter. Each has specific student and staff directives that are unique to the action. Following safety drills, and repeated exposure to the symbols, students have an understanding of what's expected of them when they receive the specific instructions.
