Dual Language Immersion (DLI) Program continues to grow

    DLI

GBSD is approaching the end of the first year of Dual Language Instruction at Highland Elementary School with 49 students enrolled in the two kindergarten classrooms, one taught by Ms. Welty and the other by Ms. Gonzalez.

Both teachers are working hard during “Distance Learning for All” to ensure their students are getting plenty of opportunities to practice and use Spanish through songs and activities.

The DLI program is moving into first grade at Highland and is also expanding by adding a kindergarten classroom at North Gresham Elementary. Mrs. Tarshis is excited to be launching DLI at North as the teacher!

We are actively recruiting for kindergarten DLI at both sites and can accept additional first grade DLI students at Highland. The District created flyers to provide an overview of the DLI program in both English and Spanish to help us inform our community in the absence of meetings. There are school-specific flyers in both languages to help families registering kindergarten students at North and Highland apply for the DLI classrooms.
