Updated health metrics for schools
Dear GBSD Staff,
On October 30, Governor Kate Brown released updated health metrics and guidance - developed in conjunction with the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) and the Oregon Department of Education (ODE) - for the return of students to in-person learning.
You can view the governor’s announcement here:
View ODE’s Updated School Metrics AnnouncementODE states these new metrics are based on the latest COVID-19 studies and data, align to CDC recommendations, are in line with standards in other states like California, and help Oregon meet its priority to return students to in-person instruction.
Because of the high number of reported COVID-19 cases in Multnomah County, the changes announced by the Governor and ODE do not yet allow us to re-open. We will continue to monitor the metrics to determine when we are able to re-open. We will update you when a change occurs.
We are currently working with school staff to plan for the return of students. When we are allowed to return to in-person instruction, a series of protocols and procedures will be followed to maintain a safe learning environment.
Thank you for your continued patience and support as we work together during this challenging situation.
Sincerely,
Gresham-Barlow School District
