    Governor's Two-Week Pause

    Dear GBSD Staff,

You are probably aware that on Friday, November 6, Gov. Brown announced a two-week “pause” on social activities in five Oregon counties, including Multnomah County. This action essentially tightens already existing restrictions on public gatherings, especially those taking place indoors. You can read more about the pause by clicking here.

While the announcement made by the governor does not include anything that specifically applies to schools, employers are directed to mandate working from home to the greatest extent possible. This means GBSD will continue with its current practice---employees who can work from home should continue to telecommute. Only employees who must be on-site to complete their work should be at schools. Governor Brown’s two-week “pause” is in effect from Wednesday, November 11 through Wednesday, November 25. If you have questions, please contact your school principal or supervisor.

Oregon’s school health metrics will determine when we can re-open schools to students. We encourage GBSD staff members to do their part to reduce the spread of COVID-19 by following safe public health practices. You can protect yourself and others by continuing to wear masks, practicing social distancing, and thoroughly washing your hands.

Thank you for all you do for our students and our community!

    Sincerely,
    Gresham-Barlow School District
