Gresham-Barlow School District to resume in-person instruction through a Hybrid Model
The week of March 29 the Gresham-Barlow School District will begin phasing-in a hybrid instructional model. We are looking forward to welcoming students back to our school buildings!

Phasing in of the Hybrid Model at the elementary level begins April 1. Phasing in at the secondary level begins April 19. Schools are communicating specific details directly to families.

Even with the implementation of the hybrid instructional model, we will also continue to provide a quality education in an online setting for those families who choose to remain in comprehensive distance learning through eGBSD.

Safely welcoming students back to school

There are a variety of measures we are taking to safely welcome students back for hybrid learning:

-Custodians to clean and sanitize spaces
-A school nurse or school health assistant at every school
-100% of teachers and school staff have been given the opportunity to get vaccinated

Air Quality and Ventilation

-Ventilation inspections
-Working to increase airflow in all buildings
-Conducting building-level audits of all mechanical systems to ensure they are creating the air flow necessary to meet Centers for Disease Control recommendations

Health and Safety Measures

To reduce exposure to COVID-19, GBSD is following public health experts’ recommendations of a layered strategy that includes:

- Face coverings
- Social distancing
- Hand hygiene
- Cough etiquette
- Contact tracing
- Building ventilation
- Vaccinations
- Cleaning and disinfecting
- Symptom screening
- Testing

Students are the stars in video showing health and safety protocols
Check out our new video featuring the protocols that will be in place to keep our students and staff safe and healthy when they return to our school buildings. Enjoy the video we created for our elementary families. We will be sharing the video we created for our middle schools and high schools in a future edition of GBSD Update.

A big thank you to all the staff, students and parents who helped in the production of this video!

Mask up!
At school, all students must wear a mask at all times. Students may remove their mask only when eating and drinking.

Students should follow these expectations on how to wear a mask properly:

- Wash your hands before putting on your mask
- Put your mask over your nose and mouth and secure it
under your chin
- Try and fit it snugly on the sides of your face
- Make sure you can breathe easily
