Alexa Edwards

Alexa Edwards credits SBHS programs and teachers for her love of languages and connection

“Teachers helped me develop the ability to ask critical questions,” said Edwards. “I was also taught how to work hard!” 

Alexa developed the desire to learn Spanish in elementary school with the hopes of using Spanish to connect with others in their native language. She was able to learn a high level of Spanish at SBHS. 

She graduated from Eastern Oregon University in 2023 with a bachelor of arts in elementary education and with a concentration in teaching English to speakers of other languages (ESOL). 

Alexa used her second language to translate at parent-teacher conferences while student teaching in college. During college, she strived to teach overseas to support families working in a foreign country by educating their children.

Two years ago, she moved to Chiang Mai, Thailand, to teach 4th grade at an international school. She loves working with students from a variety of cultures and helping them achieve education in a second language.
