Carlos Mariscal says classes at GHS were instrumental in helping him focus on the future.

“Career development classes at GHS provided me with a valuable, real-world perspective that extended beyond the typical high school curriculum,” said Mariscal.

He says that the educational experience at GHS exposed him to experts and key insights that motivated him to work hard in his classes and explore more advanced opportunities.

After graduating GHS, he attended Mount Hood Community College, then pursued a degree in electrical engineering at Portland State University and earned his master’s degree.

He spent nine years at Intel as a platform hardware engineer. During this time, he worked on advanced projects that resulted in two patented innovations.

Recently, he joined Apple as a printed circuit board (PCB) design engineer. He works on the cutting edge of silicon validation, where he tests the printed circuit board that houses and tests silicon chips to ensure the chips function correctly and meet performance specifications.

He currently lives in Troutdale with his wife and dog. He also enjoys traveling.
