Sam Barlow High School (SBHS) class of 1976 graduate Nicki Hudson

Upon graduating from SBHS, Nicki pursued a career in education. She earned a degree from the University of Oregon and returned to SBHS to teach advanced mathematics. She later earned a master’s degree in the arts of teaching from Lewis and Clark College.

She became the head of the math department and a Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA) for West Linn High School where she was awarded West Linn’s Teacher of the Year in 1997.

She was recognized with Oregon’s Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching.

Nicki returned to GBSD in 2002 and served as assistant principal at SBHS and Clear Creek Middle School (CCMS).

In 2010, she became principal of CCMS, the first AVID Demonstration School in Oregon. Currently, she is the President of Family Investment Co. CAL Investment LLC.

Nicki credits the immense support she received from SBHS staff during her high school experience for her success teaching.

“The most beneficial element to my educational experience at SBHS were the creative, individualized and rigorous experiences crafted by my teachers,” said Nicki. “The entire staff of SBHS supported this endeavor---from custodian, to bookkeeper, to principal. I felt seen and valued by the entire educational community.”

Congratulations on your success and continue thriving, Nicki!
