Tyler Falconer

“Gresham High School set me up for a life in the construction industry with Career and Technical Education classes,” shared Falconer.
Falconer believes the discipline Gresham High School provided was one of his best life lessons. He says he wasn't always the best student, and many would call him the class clown.
Teachers like Bill Kluth and Randy Williams taught him the importance of working toward a goal and making smart choices.
Hands-on classes inspired him to explore electrical engineering. In his senior year, he worked on a project on electrical apprenticeship and a Journeyman Electrician certification.
Immediately after graduation, he was accepted into the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) electrical apprenticeship. He was selected as the number 10 candidate out of over 2500 applicants. His education and opportunities at GHS helped him achieve this high level of recognition.
Falconer flourished in the program and was thriving as a third-year apprentice while his peers were graduating from college.
After graduating from the IBEW program and passing his Journeyman Certification exam, he worked for Stoner Electric building grocery stores throughout Oregon and Washington for thirteen years.
He accepted the role of head electrician for the Gresham Barlow School District in early 2013. This year, he will celebrate 13 years of service to GBSD, ensuring that all GBSD schools are safe places for students to achieve their dreams.
