National Principals/School Administrators Month

The school passed a resolution recognizing October as National Principals/School Administrators Month in the Gresham-Barlow School District. District schools and the community are invited to celebrate our wonderful principals during the month!

Gresham-Barlow School District earns national school communications awards

The school district recognized its communications team for receiving various awards from the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA) for its outstanding communications work. The team received awards for marketing, photography, and internal communications.


Superintendent and District Leadership Team Update

Superintendent Klinger shared how she has been working to build and strengthen relationships with the community through involvement in the Gresham Rotary and serving on the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. Superintendent Klinger recently participated in the Soroptimist of Gresham’s Teddy Bear Parade. Several schools walked the parade along with bands from Gresham High School and Sam Barlow High School. She commended Gresham HIgh School and the broader community for the support they have provided to GHS football player Tucker Santillanes who was injured during a recent football game at David Douglas High School. We are cheering him on as he begins his rehabilitation process.

Information Items

Standards Assurances of Compliance (Division 22) for 2024-25 School Year

Executive Director of Teaching and Learning Heidi Lasher presented GBSD’s statement of assurances indicating compliance with Administrative Rules (OAR), located in Chapter 581, Division 22 Standards for public schools. These assurances will be submitted to the Oregon Department of Education (ODE).  After reviewing the Division 22 Standards, the administration reports that the district is not in compliance with all of these rules. Gresham-Barlow SD is out of compliance with the following standards: 581-022-2445 Universal Screenings for Risk Factors of Dyslexia, 581-022-2220 Health Services, and 581-022-2515 Menstrual Dignity for Students. The District is taking corrective action in these areas. 

Opening of School Enrollment and Class Size Report 2025-26

Assistant Superintendent Dr. Sara Deboy shared the district enrollment as of September 16, 2025 totaled 9,881 students, representing 47 above projections for 2025-26, overall.

Dr. Deboy also shared enrollment data information which includes class size averages and other staffing enrollment information. These documents can be viewed in the board agenda for the October 2, 2025 board business meeting.

Monthly Financial Report

Chief Financial Officer Pete Berjano shared the monthly financial report of August 31, 2025. Berjano shared that until the September payroll numbers are fully processed and analyzed, the administration won't have a very accurate picture of what expenses for the year are expected to be. In the meantime, early trends indicate the District is in alignment with budget projections for July and August.
