Deboy named new director of K-12 schools
Oregon City School District assistant superintendent to join the Gresham-Barlow School District
The Gresham-Barlow School District announced today that Dr. Sara Deboy has been selected as the District’s next director of K-12 schools. Deboy currently serves as the assistant superintendent of the Oregon City School District (OCSD). As GBSD’s new director of K-12 Schools, Deboy will be responsible for building-level operational support and school-based leadership and guidance.
“We are excited to have Dr. Deboy join the district leadership team,” said Superintendent James Hiu. “She brings a wealth of leadership experience to our school district—from serving as a school principal to working at the district level in curriculum and instruction. Her varied experiences provide her with the knowledge and expertise needed to support our schools.”
Deboy has served as assistant superintendent in OCSD since 2021. Prior to that, she was the director of teaching and learning. She has also worked as a school principal in the Lake Oswego School District. Before joining the administrative ranks, Deboy was a fifth-grade teacher and a K-5 reading specialist.
Deboy will start in her new position on July 1, 2024. She replaces Bruce Schmidt, who has been named assistant superintendent of the Greater Albany School District.
