Harshfield recognized for his impact on students and the science community
The Oregon Science Teachers Association (OSTA) awarded Gresham High School (GHS) teacher Cyrus Harshfield the 2024 OSTA Outstanding Classroom Teacher Award for the East Metro Region.
OSTA awards recognize and honor teacher’s outstanding work motivating student achievement and excitement in science.
Harshfield provides students with the skills and knowledge to develop their science identities, and influence their plans beyond high school. The work is important and often challenging.
“I love making science approachable for my students and am grateful for the opportunity to make connections with them in and out of the classroom,” said Harshfield. “We have great kids at GHS and I hope they learn to love science as much as I do.”
Chris Rose, a Deep Creek-Damascus K-8 teacher, also received a 2024 OSTA Outstanding Classroom Teacher Award for the East Metro Region.
