Serna named principal of Clear Creek Middle School
Long-time educator has administrative and classroom teaching experience
The Gresham-Barlow School District has selected Angelica Serna to serve as Clear Creek Middle School’s next principal. For the past year, Serna has worked as a teacher on special assignment (TOSA) at Hall Elementary School. Before that, she served for five years as principal of Lot Whitcomb Elementary School in the North Clackamas School District.
“Ms. Serna is a well-respected leader who fosters collaborative relationships among staff, students, and families,” said Superintendent James Hiu. “Serna and her team at Lot Whitcomb Elementary worked together to significantly improve academic outcomes and students’ sense of belonging. We are excited for her to assume her new role as principal of Clear Creek Middle School.”
Before joining the administrative ranks, Serna taught second and third grades for several years and was a kindergarten heritage Spanish teacher. Before becoming a teacher, she began her educational career as an educational assistant for the Gresham-Barlow School District.
Ms. Serna replaces Elise Catanese, who retired at the end of the 2023-24 school year.
