Dr. Tracy Klinger-Superintendent of Schools

Dr. Tracy Klinger assumed the role of superintendent of schools on July 1, 2025. She is honored to serve as superintendent of the Gresham-Barlow School District, where she has dedicated her 28-year career to serving students, families, staff, and the broader community.

Before being named superintendent, she served as the district’s deputy superintendent. As a district-level administrator, she has overseen departments responsible for K-12 teaching and learning, student support services, multilingual and dual-language programs, federal programs, partnerships, and provided support to district-wide operations. She is a student-centered leader who focuses on continuous improvement and equitable outcomes for all students. 

A long-time Gresham resident, Dr. Klinger began her career in GBSD teaching at Powell Valley Elementary School for eleven years.  She later served as principal at West Gresham, East Gresham, and North Gresham elementary schools, gaining a deep understanding of the unique strengths and needs of each school community.

Dr. Klinger’s leadership style is rooted in integrity, empathy, and respect. As superintendent, Dr. Klinger is committed to cultivating a culture of belonging and excellence while building strong partnerships with the community to meet the diverse needs of all students.  

She holds a doctorate from the University of Portland, where she also earned her administrative credentials. She earned her master’s in the art of teaching and a bachelor’s in psychology from Willamette University. 

Dr. Klinger is married to a Gresham High School graduate, and her two children graduated from Sam Barlow High School. In her spare time, she and her family enjoy spending time in Oregon’s great outdoors–especially during the summer months at their favorite lakeside cabin.
