Student and Parent Reunification

Sometimes, events require parents to pick up students in a controlled release.  This process is called “reunification.  Weather, a power outage, a hazmat issue, or a crisis can be reasons for a reunification or controlled release process.

Reunification is a protocol that makes this process more predictable and less chaotic for all involved.  A controlled release is not a typical event, and reunification could occur at a different location than the school a student attends.

Notification of a Student and Parent Reunification

Parents and guardians may be notified in several ways.  The school or district office personnel may use electronic text notification, auto-dialer system, or both.  In some cases, students might be asked to text their parents as well.
