Limited Parking @ Dexter McCarty Due To Construction
Construction is beginning on the new East Gresham Elementary School Thursday, March 8th. Therefore, parking will no longer be allowed in the parking lot connecting East Gresham Elementary and Dexter McCarty Middle Schools. Please note that this situation will cause heavy congestion on SE 5th Street during drop off and pick up times at both schools. Gresham Police are aware of the potential issues that may occur, and will be present to assist in safety and movement of traffic during these times. Also, please know that parking will be severely limited when visiting for events and activities; please plan accordingly.

Oregon State Assessments and 2017-18 Opt Out Information
Every year, students throughout Oregon take state assessments prescribed by
the Oregon Department of Education. The purpose of these assessments is to
show individual student growth over time and to provide student-specific data
that teachers can use to ensure each and every child is on track and achieving
learning goals. Results are also used to inform course placement and to provide
focused feedback to students and parents.
Oregon state law requires us to inform you that a form is available from the
Oregon Department of Education that allows you to opt your child out of state
assessments for the 2017-18 school year. Should you wish to opt out your child,
please fill out the form and submit it to the main office. The
form can be accessed at http://www.ode.state.or.us/search/page/?id=4302 or on
the Gresham-Barlwo website under Assessment Resources. You may also receive a copy
of the form from our school office.
If you have questions or want more information about state assessments, please
contact your child’s principal or teacher(s).

We teach to cause a positive result...
Our mission statement says it all. We, the staff of DMMS, strive to provide an overall educational experience that is focused on academic and social growth for all students. We work hard to provide our students with positive experiences in and out of the classroom that will meet them where they are and get them where they need to be in order to enter high school prepared to graduate. From our school-wide AVID program to our Positive Behavior Support and Intervention program, we work to develop and expand student skill, knowledge, and understanding of what it takes to be successful in school and in life. With a very diverse student population, we work hard to create a culture of inclusion and acceptance of all students, regardless of their backgrounds or circumstances. The staff of DMMS are as hard working, professional, passionate, and compassionate group of educators you will find. We work together to serve all students and to help them realize the rewards of an education. "All Means All" is not just a mantra for us, it is the way we approach every day, every period, every student.
Thank you for visiting our newly updated website and please come back often to view up-to-date information, which will keep you informed about our school.
