Gopher Community,
On behalf of all the staff at Gresham High School, I want to welcome you and your student(s) to the 2023-2024 school year! Starting my 3rd year at GHS, I am invigorated by the energy of our students and families and the rich and diverse cultures each student brings through our doors everyday. I am humbled to be serving this community and am optimistic about our school-family partnership moving forward.
As we embark on the journey of this upcoming school year, it is important for us to think about where we have been and where we are headed. The past few years in education have reminded us that we must continue to adapt and learn in order to best serve students and families in the Gresham community. It has brought into focus that maintaining the traditions that are good for all students, while embracing change and improvement, is critical to helping our students thrive. We have learned to more willingly give and receive patience and grace. And, most of all, we have reinvigorated ourselves with the knowledge that our students, who are our future leaders and community members, are resilient and amazing!
The GHS mission is to be a community of lifelong learners empowered by academic excellence, inquiry, and discovery, which will lead students to facilitate future opportunities and positively contribute in both the local and global society. This mission embodies who we are and who we strive to be for our students. Our goals this year center around improved instructional practice, an increase in our graduation rates, and increasing our engagement with the families of our students. This is a community school and the families of our students are an integral part of our ability to be successful. We want to hear from you and we will actively work in creative ways to engage you in our school community.
I am so proud to be a part of Gopher Nation! The GHS community is richly diverse and dedicated to ensuring every student feels valued and has a sense of belonging. I am excited to be with our students and look forward to meeting and hearing from each of you throughout the coming school year!
Go Gophers!
