    Dear GBSD Families,

Due to hazardous air quality and the threat of looming wildfires in the area, there will be no school in the Gresham-Barlow School District the week of September 14-18.

The first day of school will now take place on Monday, September 21.

    Device Distribution
Device distribution was delayed last week due to the air quality. It will be rescheduled for next week to allow devices to be picked up prior to the start of school.

Students who attend Dexter McCarty Middle School or Clear Creek Middle School should pick up a device from their school on either September 17 or September 18. Device distribution takes place from 11 am to 6 pm each day.

If your student attends one of the district’s other schools, and you were not able to pick up a device, please call your student’s school beginning on September 17 to make arrangements to pick up a device.  The school secretaries will work with you to set a pick-up time.

    Meals Program begins September 14
The District’s Meals Program will be operating during next week’s school closure. You can learn about the sites where you can pick up meals, as well as the routes buses will take to deliver meals to neighborhoods by visiting this webpage.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Gresham-Barlow School District through our Let’s Talk Online Listening System for a prompt response.

Our thoughts are with the families in our community impacted by the devastating wildfires in our region.

A teacher selection committee has recommended the adoption of STEMscopes as the new primary Science resource for GBSD elementary classrooms. STEMscopes is a phenomena-based digital curriculum that is brought to life through hands-on experiences and student-driven inquiry.

With school board and budget approval this spring, STEMscopes will be rolled out in two phases. Grades 3-5 will begin implementation in during the 2019-2020 school year and grades K-2 will implement the following year. STEMscopes was recently adopted as the primary Science resource for grades 6-8 in GBSD classrooms as well.

Principal's Message

Mrs. Sewell

Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Sewell

August 2020

Dear North Gresham Elementary School Families,

My name is Shawnda Sewell and I am thrilled to be the next principal of North Gresham Elementary School!

This is my 20th year in education, and for the past 6 years I served as the Principal of Highland Elementary School right here in the Gresham Barlow School District. North Gresham Elementary School has a great reputation for having exceptional staff members who love their students and provide them with rich academic and social experiences. Additionally, the students have been characterized as energetic and eager to learn. I have no doubt that together we can continue to get through these unprecedented times stronger and better than ever.

As a North staff, we will embrace the challenges of the future while we continue to cherish and celebrate the traditions of the past. Our remarkable staff, involved parents and committed students come together to make North Gresham a wonderful, unique place. The beginning of the year will look and feel different but we will continue to be rooted in a student-centered focus with the strength coming from the partnership of our community.
