How to Register for Kindergarten
Elementary schools will begin accepting registration paperwork for the 2019-2020 school year on August 21, 2019. Parents should go to their attendance area school to register and bring their child's birth certificate, immunization record, 2 pieces of proof of residence, and names and telephone numbers of emergency contacts.
If you do not know which school attendance area you reside in, please call (503) 261-4550 to find out.
A child must be 5 years of age on or before September 1st to enter kindergarten and 6 years of age on or before September 1st to enter first grade.
If your child will not be 5 or 6 years old on or before September 1st, and you wish to pursue enrollment, please review the requirements in policy JEBA and JEBA-AR. The policy and AR (Administrative Rules) are very specific about the necessity for psychological testing to determine kindergarten or first grade readiness of a student younger than the required age. The tests are to be scheduled and paid for by the parent. If you have any questions pertaining to this process, please contact Jade Joseph at 503-261-4575 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
