School Funding Update
March 14, 2019
All eyes are on the Oregon Legislature as state lawmakers begin their work to determine the state’s budget for the next biennium, to include the budget for K-12 schools.
During the first week of March, the Joint Ways and Means Committee Co-chairs released their budget framework. The framework earmarks $8.87 billion for the state school fund, $100 million less than Gov. Kate Brown’s November proposal. A state school fund of $8.87 billion would require the Gresham-Barlow School District to make reductions for next school year.
