#TeamGBSD builds on our successes through new mission/vision/ goals, GBSD Portrait of a Graduate and Strategic Teaching and Learning Investment Plan 3.0
NEW PROGRAM
Dual Language Immersion coming to kindergarten at Highland Elementary this fall
-Highland Elementary will have Dual Language kindergarten starting September
-Native Spanish and native English speakers will learn together, initially primarily in Spanish
-The Dual Language Program will move up one grade level per year

UNIQUE LEARNING EXPERIENCE

In April Highland Elementary students took part in a workshop titled "Intro to Songs of the Civil Rights Movement" led by special guest Cynthia Butts








EDUCATION FOUNDATION UPDATE

Foundation funds new library management system
-New library management system coming next school year
-Visual interface for students to browse for books with a variety of filter options
-24/7 mobile device access
TECHNOLOGY TIP

-Important security actions are getting overlooked and can lead to dangerous consequences

-Failing to lock your screen can open you (and your data) up to several vulnerabilities

OEBB OPEN ENROLLMENT

The 2019-20 benefit year will require all employees to re-enroll or waive coverage

Acts of discrimination, harassment, hazing, cyberbullying and such will not be tolerated
Congratulations to Sam Barlow High School's Theatre Director Jeff Schroeder for being K103's Honor Roll educator for the month of May!
In celebration of #Thankful Thursdays! we thanked Gordon Russell Middle's SUN Program for hosting an inspiring writer's workshop.
In April, Dexter McCarty Middle School students learned to tell the difference between real and fake social media posts.
