Gresham-Barlow School District announces administrative hires 

Principals named at Gresham HS, Gordon Russell MS, and Hall ES

The Gresham-Barlow School District has announced a series of administrative hires. Erika Beddoe Whitlock has been appointed principal of Gresham High School. Up until now, Ms. Beddoe Whitlock has been serving as interim principal. Prior to serving as interim principal, Beddoe Whitlock served as the school’s assistant principal. Before joining the staff at Gresham High School as an assistant principal, she served in that same position at North Medford High School. She also oversaw the District’s AVID program. Before joining the administrative ranks, she taught health, college/career, and computer classes at the high school level.

Erin Voelker has been appointed principal of Gordon Russel Middle School. Up until now, Ms. Voelker has been serving as interim principal. Prior to serving as interim principal, she was the school’s assistant principal. Before joining the GRMS staff, she served as an assistant principal at Gresham High School for four years. Before joining the staff at Gresham High School, she served as an assistant principal at Parkrose Middle School. Before joining the administrative ranks, she taught math and science at the middle school level and also worked as an English language development teacher.

Michelle Cardenas will serve as the next principal of Hall Elementary School. Ms.Cardenas currently works for the Reynolds School District as its school culture and climate program administrator. Prior to that, she served as principal of Open School East, an alternative high school located in Portland. Before moving to Oregon, she worked as an assistant principal for Caliber Beta Academy Middle School in California. Prior to joining the administrative ranks, she worked as a learning specialist and social studies teacher. A formal transition plan for Ms. Cardenas will be developed later this spring.
