Gresham-Barlow School Board seeks input from the community as it works to select next superintendent

Individuals can share their thoughts online

The Gresham-Barlow School Board is in the process of conducting a superintendent search to replace Dr. Katrise Perera who resigned on June 30. Currently, James Hiu is serving as acting superintendent. The school board needs input from the entire community to help with the process of selecting the next superintendent.

To gather feedback, the school board is using a tool called ThoughtExchange so as many people as possible can participate. The ThoughtExchange online discussion is available in a variety of languages including Spanish and Russian.

While participating in the discussion, participants will be asked: “What should the new superintendent know about our District, and what important skills and qualities would help them be most successful in the role?”

During the online discussion, in addition to sharing their thoughts, participants will be asked to consider and assign stars to some ideas shared by others and to learn what’s important to the group.

The thoughts and stars attendees share will be kept confidential. The ratings will help the Board understand the most important areas to focus on as they work to select the next superintendent.

Anyone in the community can participate by visiting bit.ly/GBSuptSearch.

Participation will be open until Friday, December 10.

Participants who need technical help, with the ThoughtExchange software, can call ThoughtExchange at 1-800-361-9027 or ext. 4 or email help@thoughtexchange.com.
