Tutors needed to help students prepare for college and success in life

Ideal candidates for the AVID Program have a passion to work with students and make a positive difference

The Gresham-Barlow School District is hiring tutors for the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) program. AVID Tutors work with junior high and high school students.

The AVID program closes the opportunity gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society. As an AVID Tutor, individuals will:

  • Play a critical role in helping students use their knowledge to solve problems and develop skills

  • Work with small groups of students during AVID elective classes under the supervision of an AVID teacher

  • Serve as a guide and facilitator of students’ learning through questioning, writing, thinking, and discussing

  • Make a positive contribution to students' lives

All AVID tutors will receive several hours of paid training prior to their work in the classroom. Hours vary between 1 hour - 6.5 hours per day, and days vary depending on location.
