Message to our community

Dear West Orient Community,

“The ultimate measure of a person is not where one stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where one stands in times of challenge and controversy.”

Martin Luther King, Jr.

In these challenging times, we stand together. It’s difficult to find the words to express the emotions we are all feeling right now. It’s time for everyone, ourselves included, to stand up against racism and injustice. We will start by saying that we have a lot of work to do. While we don’t have all the answers, we are committed to listening, learning, and understanding our students and community.

We believe that every student who walks through our doors deserves to be treated with respect, fairness, and dignity. We will continue to work together to build a positive and safe community where ALL students feel welcome. We will work towards eliminating inequities and injustices from our school. We will continue to uphold the values of inclusion and equity and support for all of the students that we serve. This is where we stand and this is the journey to which we are committed.

We are ALL in this together.  
